Squalene (C₃₀H₅₀) is an unsaturated hydrocarbon found in animals and some plants, and is a precursor of steroids. The IUPAC name of squalene is 2,6,10,15,19,23-hexamethyl-2,6,10,14,18,22-tetracosahexaene (M_W = 410.7).
